Beyond the Hurt: By Stella Ashworth
Forgive. Walk in Wisdom. Remember Eternity.
Dear Beloved in Christ,
I believe each of us could make a list of people who have hurt, disappointed, or let us down. We remember those who stood beside us when life was difficult, and those who were never truly there when we needed them most.
The truth is, we remember what people do to us, sometimes far longer than we care to admit. But there comes a point when we must decide whether we will continue carrying the weight of those memories or find the courage to forgive.
Forgiveness does not erase the past, excuse the hurt, or change what happened. It simply releases us from being bound to it. Eventually, we reach a place where we are ready to let go, close the chapter, and move forward, not because it never mattered, but because we understand that our peace matters too.
I have learned that the enemy can use people, sometimes even those closest to us, to hurt, discourage, and distract us. Sadly, even fellow Christians can keep reminding us of the pain others have caused instead of encouraging us to heal, forgive, and move forward.
But I have also learned that some seasons are not meant to break us; they are meant to strengthen us, deepen our wisdom, and mature our faith. Being humble does not mean we lack wisdom.
It means we can see clearly, recognise what has happened, understand what it has cost us, and still choose to forgive. We do not forgive because we are blind to the truth. We forgive because we refuse to let the pain of yesterday dictate the condition of our hearts tomorrow.
Sometimes, the greatest evidence of spiritual maturity is knowing exactly what happened, choosing not to retaliate, and trusting God enough to let go.
Remember Eternity
We are living in times when evil is called good, and some believe that money, power, and influence can cover their sins. But God cannot be mocked, and no earthly wealth can buy a soul's eternity.
I often think of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19–31). The rich man enjoyed his wealth and luxury on earth, but eternity revealed a reality his riches could never change.
Never mistake earthly prosperity for God's approval. You may deceive people, manipulate circumstances, and escape earthly consequences, but you will never escape the righteous judgment of God. When eternity comes into view, everything this world values will fade, and only what matters to God will remain.
Forgive those who have hurt you. Learn from the seasons that have tested you. Walk in wisdom, protect your peace, and trust God with what you cannot change.
Never allow the actions of others to harden your heart or distract you from your walk with God. We are not called to carry bitterness, seek revenge, or measure our lives by earthly success.
We are called to walk in truth, extend forgiveness, and remember that our lives are lived before God.
One day, everything earthly will pass away, but God's truth and righteousness will remain.
