What if technology could give you one more conversation with someone you lost? One more smile. One more “I love you.” One more moment that feels almost real.
AI can recreate a voice. It can recreate a face. It can recreate memories. But it cannot bring them back. And perhaps this is where we need to pause. Because our grief can make us vulnerable to anything that promises to give us back what death has taken. But there are some things technology was never created to hold. A soul. A life. Real love. Eternity.
We live in a generation increasingly capable of creating an artificial version of almost everything. We can manufacture images, personalities, voices and even relationships that feel real. But feeling real and being real are not the same thing. Not everything that technology makes possible is something we need to embrace.
We were not created to live inside a simulation of life. We were created to live. And when someone we love is gone, we grieve. We remember them. We honour their life. But we don't need an artificial version of them to prove that their life mattered. Their love was real. Their memories are real. Their impact is real. And our hope is not found in technology recreating the past. Our hope is found in Christ.
Don't let the artificial become more real to you than the life God has given you. Don't allow technology to steal your presence from the people sitting beside you. Don't spend so much time creating another version of yourself that you forget to become the person God created you to be.
